What you’ll do as a Senior Software Engineer at Akuna:

Akuna is looking for a senior trading systems developer to join our team building proprietary low-latency options trading systems. Our development team partners closely with our Trading and Research departments to continually improve the competitiveness of our in-house trading systems. Our trading systems implement complex algorithms and models while processing high volumes of real-time financial data, responding to changing market conditions with ultra-low latency. Developers at Akuna focus on deliver technology which has a direct business impact, while also caring deeply about software quality and best-practices.

Prior experience in financial markets is not a pre-requisite for this role. Akuna offers internal training to familiarise new starters with options trading concepts.

In this role you will:

• Take a hands-on role delivering significant development projects, writing high-quality and high-performance software (primarily working in C++).
• Work within both existing codebases as well as building new systems.
• Take end-to-end responsibility for systems including planning, design, implementation, deployment, support, and analysis.
• Contribute to Akuna’s technology direction and architecture, while also influencing and championing development best practices.
• Collaborate closely with peers in Technology, as well as with Trading and Quant departments.

Qualities that make great candidates:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of professional development experience, including working with C++.
• Familiarity with a Linux development environment.
• Deep technical knowledge in a subset of related fields including event-loops, distributed systems, computer microarchitecture, network programming, parallel programming.
• Strong communication skills and a focus on collaboration.
• Prior experience in a senior or leadership role. An ability to mentor junior developers and to lead changes across multiple teams.
• Desire to work in a fast-paced and flexible environment.
